The biggest change for Black Rock this year, outside of playing in a rebranded league, is that the outfit will have a home in the Berkshires. Last year, the team trained and played in Connecticut. This year, Black Rock will call MCLA home, with games being played at Shewcraft Field in North Adams.

Moodey said that the partnership with MCLA will be beneficial, because players will live in a more urban area. While the team won't be together quite as much as in Year 1, Moodey said that "it's a little bit more of a flexible plan, but we feel that we'll still accomplish the residential side."

"We keep it in house a little bit," Moodey said about the recruitment for players this season. "Not to be exclusive, but more to provide a real, deliberate pyramid for our player development, so that those players, when they sign on as young players, it's something that they can work toward.

Football - USL, League Two
Black Rock FC is playing in the newly branded USL League Two this year formerly the Premier Development League as the reigning Northeast Division champion. Black Rock went 9-2-3 in its inaugural PDL season to win the division before falling to the New York Red Bulls U-23 team in the Eastern Conference playoff semifinals. Coach Jon Moodey thinks that this year's squad has the talent necessary to continue competing at a high level.
Mason Toye netted the winner as Minnesota United rallied from a two-goal deficit to beat the Houston Dynamo and reach the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals.
Those losses, though, are part of what fuel Black Rock FC as an organization. With a defined pathway within the organization from local, youth soccer teams all the way through the USL2 squad, Moodey noted that Black Rock FC was founded to give its players opportunities to reach the height of collegiate soccer, and beyond.

"It definitely is," our goal to repeat, Moodey said. "We are a competitive group. I know the league is good and there are some newcomers in the league ... We know that winning the league is what everyone's goal is, but we would like to try and repeat.
